Emerson Unveils World's First Low-Carbon Pressure Regulator for the Hydrogen Economy

Industry News-

Emerson, a global leader in automation and technology for process industries, has launched its revolutionary Go™ series of low-carbon footprint pressure reducing valves at the ACHEMA trade fair in Germany. Designed for the hydrogen economy, carbon capture (CCS), and biomass sectors, this new product aims to help customers reduce their Scope 3 (value chain) emissions.

The innovation lies in its lifecycle design. The valve body incorporates 70% recycled steel, the manufacturing process uses 100% renewable energy, utilizes forging over traditional casting, and product packaging has been reduced by 50. A third-party assessment verified a 40% reduction in the product's carbon footprint compared to a standard equivalent.

"Sustainability is not just our strategy; it's our commitment to customers," said Tom Williams, President of Emerson's Fluid Control business. "This regulator delivers exceptional pressure control and reliability while directly supporting our customers' decarbonization goals. Its materials and sealing technology are ideally suited for the high-purity requirements of green hydrogen production and transportation."

Industry observers see this move as a signal that core industrial components are entering an era of "green quantification," pressuring the entire supply chain to accelerate its transition towards sustainability. Several major European green hydrogen projects have already expressed interest in evaluating the new product.
